WHAT IS PROJECT 2025?

02/02/2025

Project 2025 is a movement with conservative and right wing values working to implement their ideas into the US regime. It is an effort by the Heritage Foundation, not by Trump, although Trump as president is key to implementing the policies suggested. The right wing conservative Heritage Foundation has been around influencing Republican administrations for decades.

The Project 2025 report was unveiled in April 2023, but it went largely unnoticed outside of policy circles until 2024, when Democratic opposition to the document ramped up. Democratic politicians launched a "Stop Project 2025 Task Force" and even set up a tip line to collect insider information on Heritage's activities, claiming there is a "secret" part of the agenda pushing a list of executive orders that Trump could implement.

Prominent people behind Project 2025 include many of Trump's advisors or other affiliates such as Paul Dans, Russell Vought, Kevin Roberts. More than 100 conservative organisations contributed to the document Project 2025.

The Project 2025 has published a book "Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise". It is a product of more than 400 scholars and policy experts from around the US. The people behind it are much more educated and skilled in leadership, among other, than Trump, which is why it is so much more dangerous to democracy.

The Project 2025 book offers a menu of right wing conservative policy suggestions "to meet our country's deepest challenges and put America back on track". They foremost list the following:

  • Secure the border, finish building the wall, and deport illegal aliens
  • De-weaponize the Federal Government by increasing accountability and oversight of the FBI and DOJ
  • Unleash American energy production to reduce energy prices
  • Cut the growth of government spending to reduce inflation
  • Make federal bureaucrats more accountable to the democratically elected President and Congress
  • Improve education by moving control and funding of education from DC bureaucrats directly to parents and state and local governments
  • Ban biological males from competing in women's sports

Practically all of Trump's executive orders so far are related to these topics.
